News Roundup! Small but significante updates around…

Pretty much I will be writing “News Roundup” posts because a lot of news out there is important, but I can’t write a whole article on it, so I will summarize it and link to another source.

Twitter announces it will be offering paid services to business and premium users soon! Reports were saying that Twitter was going to force these “fees” on companies, however Twitter responded with a blog post telling everyone the fees are not going to be “forced”. I think this is a good opportunity for companies and …

Klok: A free Adobe Air time tracking application

I wanted to find a free, easy application to track my time spent on various projects. I found Klok, its an Adobe AIR application! I downloaded it and it went fairly simple. The application is very simple to use, however it has a decent learning curve. I would say it took me almost 5 minutes to learn my way around the application, and I’m still finding new things out as I write this.

At first, when you launch the application, you are presented with the “Project View” screen. The first thing …

Adsense Disabled my Account! New Ads!

I was contacted by Google yesterday about my AdSense account. I guess our ads were “a risk to Adsense’s publishers” (more here), when really I think the issue was that we were getting close to our first payout. I immediately appealed, however I noticed that less than 1% of all appeals actually get approved and the account reinstated. That wasn’t very good odds, so I went searching for new companies.
I came along AdBrite, which is known for having problems with their Contextual matches and totally unrelated ads, however they were the …

TreeSize Free: Clear your hard drive of huge files/folders!

Don’t you hate it how Windows doesn’t show the size of folders unless you right-click and choose properties. Well, that can take a long time if your looking through your whole hard drive, trying to find out what is taking up all that space.
TreeSize Free is a free, small program that shows you the biggest folders on your hard drive and then gives you easy access to viewing or deleting them. If you are planning on using the application a lot, then I would run the installer but if not, …

Twisten.fm: Discover Music on Twitter! Maybe…

I noticed a new service offered by my wonderful friends over at Grooveshark the other day, Twisten.FM . I was intrigued by what they said it did: Discover music through Twitter. I decided to check it out, and I gave them (grooveshark) my twitter email and password. Hopefully, they will support OAuth when Twitter finally releases it. I know some of the members at Grooveshark and I would trust them with my login; they aren’t going to “hack” you or anything, they just need your following list so they can …

Google Search + AJAX = Internet Fail!!

Google is testing out a new way to search, AJAX! It sounds all good, right? Now I don’t have to have the page reload every time I search! Well that’s a plus, but what about all the apps its going to break? I’m assuming that it will still accept the old format of the search (below) for a while so any search plug-ins should still work. However the real problem is for analytics.
Browsers don’t send “page link” elements in the referrer and so any analytics tracking sites will not be …
